The paper focuses on the aerial ancient topography research of the hill-forts system built by Samnites in their territory between campano and caudino areas. The study has been conducted by the TOP_LAB (DiLBEC-SUN), in the context of the "Archaeological map of Campania” initiative. The topographic analysis conducted has greatly enriched the framework of evidences already available further integrated and enhanced by the consultation of historical aerial and satellite imagery with LIDAR data too. The study is especially focusing on the Monte Longano located east of the Tifatini Mountains; on the top of Monte Longano it was already known the presence of a housing settlement dating back to Samnite period. On the top of Monte Longano it has been noted the presence of different building structures, not all coeval, different among them in terms of forms and functions. In this articulated framework, the aerial and satellite views, the detection and direct analysis of the building techniques has allowed to distinguish constructive elements and to make some more reasonable hypothesis about the functions and forms assumed by the archeological site in the Samnite period in a “border line” area.
